Honda tarihinde üretilen 5. araç olan RA301 1968 yılındaShoichi Sanor tarafından tasarlandı. Aracın teknik direktörü ise Yoshio Nakamura’ydı.
Yakıt ve yağ olarak Shell’i tercih eden Honda, kendi üretttiği RA301E model V12 motora sahipti.
John Surtees, David Hobbs ve Jo Bonnier’ın kullandığı araç sezon içerisinde 9 kez yarış dışı kaldı.
RA301, 11 yarışlık macerasında 1 pole pozisyonu ve 2 podyum elde etti.
